At the kiosk, bands of music gather to delight visitors every Sunday. A few meters from the center is St. John the Baptist Parrish, which has a Gothic style that evokes the Parisian Cathedral of Notre Dame.

Another attraction is the monumental sculpture of the Virgin of Guadalupe, built on the hill of “Tabacal”. It is one of the largest virgin sculptures in Mexico with a height of 30 meters; its sanctuary it’s a spectacular viewpoint from where you can admire any corner of the town, its excellent for taking panoramic photographs.

In Xicotepec, you will also be able to learn about the ancient legacy of medicinal plants. Visit the ceremonial site called “la Xochipila”, a group of rocks that were part of an altar in honor of “Xochipili”, the Aztec God of flowers and arts. Every June 24th, white and dark wizards gather in this place to make “limpias” and to cure people, as well as to ask peace and prosperity. During the festivity, “Xicotepec” is flooded with aromas of “cempasuchil flowers”, incense, molten wax and food, which give a special touch of magic and mysticism to the ritual.

We recommend you to visit the spectacular ravine known as “la Garganta del Diablo”, on the way you can appreciate landscapes and on the horizon you will be able to see the limits with the state of Veracruz. If you have luck, pay attention and you might observe foxes, tigers, eagles, hawks, buzzards and hundreds of multicolored birds.
