Considered like one of the most important museums in the world; its objective is to register, preserve, restore and exhibit archeological and ethnographic pieces of the country. It counts with the largest are collection of the pre-colonial period, divided into 24 thematic rooms; like the “Olmeca” room, the “Teotihuacan” room, the “Mayan” room, the “Mexica” room as well as different temporary exhibitions. In its gardens there are some replies of “estelas” and sculptures that come from famous archeological areas located in Chiapas, Oaxaca and Yucatan.

The incredible architecture of this museum was designed by the Mexican Pedro Ramirez Vazquez, you will be captivated by the large dome from which it falls a waterfall designed in homage to the Aztec God “Tlaloc” god of rain and which also represent a mythological tree with different engraved symbols.

It counts with specialized areas in archeology, ethnography, museography and investigation, as well as 3 auditoriums, library, laboratories, wineries, spaces for temporary exhibitions, shop, restaurant, bookshop, video library, courses, workshops, wardrobe and programs for tour visits, academic and artistic events.

It opens from Tuesday to Sunday from 9 to 7 and every Sunday the entrée is free to public in general and foreigners living in Mexico.
